Requirement translation
Converted complex client and government constraints into screen structures, workflows, and decision points that could be understood by users.
PAVE / Infrastructure & Engineering
PAVE was designed for serious infrastructure work — where image data, road defects, QA flows, and government constraints all had to come together inside one usable product experience.

Project overview
PAVE needed to help users move from raw road imagery to structured review, annotation, QA, and decision-making. The product had to feel technical enough for engineering work, but clear enough to avoid slowing people down.
Our role was to translate complex client requirements and government constraints into a product interface that felt controlled, reliable, and usable.
The challenge

The hardest part was understanding what the client actually needed, then shaping that into a product that could respect government-style constraints, engineering expectations, and day-to-day usability.
UX approach
For PAVE, UX was about translating technical requirements into a clean operating model. The goal was to make the system feel organized before it felt visually impressive.
Converted complex client and government constraints into screen structures, workflows, and decision points that could be understood by users.
Structured the image review experience around speed, accuracy, and clear feedback so repetitive work did not become confusing.
Separated overview metrics, review states, and deeper data so users could scan quickly and investigate only when needed.
Designed states, filters, and data views to make the system feel controlled, auditable, and appropriate for serious engineering workflows.
Selected work

UI and product direction
The UI direction needed to look premium, but not decorative. We wanted the product to feel like a command center for engineering data: sharp, structured, and readable.
Dark SaaS base with warm accent highlights for priority actions and important states.
Strong headings, compact labels, and readable dashboard text for technical scanning.
Grid-based cards, dense panels, and structured visual groupings for large datasets.
Charts, filters, status indicators, review cards, and annotation-focused panels.
Key product decisions
SaaS Dashboard
A technical dashboard designed to make pavement condition data easier to scan, compare, and act on without overwhelming the user.
Core Product Flow
We selected the annotation workspace as the key PAVE screen because it represents the real product value: reviewing visual road data and turning it into structured information.
Validation
The QA experience needed to make review states, feedback, and validation steps clear enough for technical teams to trust the process.
Data Operations
Large datasets needed organization, filtering, and structured browsing so users could move through heavy information without losing context.
Our process
The first challenge was making sense of technical requirements and constraints before turning them into interface decisions.
We broke the product into practical user flows: dashboard overview, image review, annotation, QA, and dataset management.
The UI needed reusable patterns for cards, filters, charts, statuses, panels, and high-density technical screens.
We implemented the interface in React using TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and Recharts, keeping the frontend structured and scalable.
Execution

PAVE was designed and developed by our team in React. The frontend had to support dashboards, data visualization, annotation-style layouts, reusable UI structures, and responsive product screens while keeping the interface clean and performant.

Impact
Rather than presenting unverified numbers, this case study focuses on the product value we can demonstrate: a clearer SaaS workflow, stronger visual hierarchy, a structured annotation experience, and a scalable frontend foundation.
Clearer translation of requirements into UI
More usable annotation and review workflow
Technical dashboard structure for engineering users
A scalable React frontend foundation
Closing perspective
PAVE reinforced that enterprise SaaS design is not only about screens. Strong work begins with listening, understanding constraints, and turning complex requirements into an interface that technical teams can trust.
